A woman from Kidbrooke has been ordered to pay more than £850 for dropping her cigarette on the ground in Eltham.
Donna Rumbold, 34, left her cigarette on the floor outside Halifax on Eltham High Street on July 14, 2021.
She was found guilty in her absence by Bromley Magistrates’ Court on July 19, 2022.
This verdict comes after London Fire Brigade issued several statements following a series of heatwave-related fires last week urging people not to drop cigarettes on the ground due to the risk of fire.
Rumbold, of Tudway Road in Kidbrooke, was ordered to pay £854.
This includes a £220 fine, a £34 victim surcharge, and £600 costs.
This must be paid by August 16.
