SHOCKING footage shows a huge seven-hour fire at a grassland in Erith – which saw 15 people being rescued by firefighters.
The fire broke out in Ray Lamb Way yesterday (July 19) shortly after 6.30pm.
Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters were called to the blaze.
Footage from the scene shows fire billowing into the air as firefighters tackle the blaze.
It also shows a crowd of stunned onlookers watching the flames burst into the sky.
Bushes of around five hectares were involved in the blaze.
Two commercial warehouses were also destroyed by the fire and another warehouse was damaged.
Firefighters rescued 15 people using fire escape hoods.
Another 13 people were led to safety by the brigade.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 22 calls to the fire.
The fire was under control just before 1.30am.
Fire crews from Sutton, Addington, Bexley, Sidcup, and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters were called to a fire involving grassland and buildings on Ray Lamb Way in Erith.
“Two commercial warehouses were destroyed by the fire and a further warehouse was damaged.
“An area of grassland and bushes of around five hectares was also involved in the blaze.
“Firefighters rescued 15 people using fire escape hoods and another 13 people were led to safety by crews.
“There were no reports of any injuries.
“The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 22 calls to the fire.
“The Brigade was called at 1833 and the fire was under control by 0127.
