A mum from Sidcup who married to her cat says she’s ready to take on the role of Prime Minster as she’s “better looking than Boris”.

Deborah Hodge believes she would do a better job as Prime Minister than Boris Johnson, and would tackle issues such as climate change, the NHS, homelessness, and the cost-of-living crisis.

The mum-of-four is no stranger to the media – as she has featured on This Morning to address the importance of the benefits system.

She has also married her cat, her house and hosted a funeral for Richard Branson’s cardboard cut-out.

Now, Deborah – who is a comedian and ex school teacher – plans to stand for Prime Minister to “hold people accountable”.

Deborah told the News Shopper: “I’ve got no political affiliation to anyone.

“But Jón Gnarr, the mayor of Iceland, and President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has a background as a comic actor are not politicians.

“That’s why we need a different way of thinking.”

Deborah says her campaigns focus on her two strap lines – Better Looking Than Boris and Take Me For Dinner.

“I am better looking than Boris and I can take these politicians down,” Deborah added.

Deborah says she would love to address matters with business billionaires such as Elon Musk, Richard Branson, and NASA, to discuss the current global issues and discuss ways to build a better planet.

She believes the way to enter the world of politics is to story tell through the media – with a story set to be published soon about her cat India, who potentially could be the reason behind her wanting to become Prime Minister.

She added: “My cat, India, is the reincarnation of Elvis and she is telling me to do all of this.

“Now you may or may not believe this, or you may think I’m an activist who is having a bit of fun.

“But these types of stories have got me noticed in the media.”

Deborah, who claims to have a small family with no money nor savings, says she is a “reflection on so many people” as she can relate to the current issues people across the UK are facing – such as the rise in prices of tax and food.

“The poorer the country is getting; the more ludicrous things are becoming,” she added.

“Even the Jubilee – if the billions of pounds spent were spread out between every household in Britain, we'd get thousands of pounds each.

“Whilst our backs are against the wall, the big companies are showing record profits.

“I used to have money - but I gave it all up when my daughter Amelia was poorly.

“Most politicians haven’t had to go to a food bank or ask for emergency credit from their gas or electric supplier, but I have.

“And there’s bigger, global things to address - why are not politicians talking about climate change?

“We’re being distracted whilst people are making money, but what good is money and fame when the world is literally on fire.”

Deborah, who admits to not wanting to become the standard definition of a politician, hopes to start a political movement by becoming viral through stories in the press.

She said: “I don't want to be a politician – I believe anybody who makes the career choice to be a politician is corrupt.News Shopper: (images: Deborah Hodge)(images: Deborah Hodge)

“I listen to people, and I know that one person on their own cannot do this.

“But I take on board people’s opinions – such as listening to people at my local pub or sharing stories with taxi drivers.

“I'm 100 per cent independent – what I’m trying to do is create a movement.”
