A brand-new production of Shrek the Musical is heading to Dartford as part of a major UK and Ireland tour.

The award-winning show will begin its tour in July 2023, starting in Plymouth.

The musical, which was first performed on Broadway in 2008, will be at The Orchard Theatre in Dartford from Monday, July 2 to Saturday, July 7, 2023.

Mark Goucher, the producer, said: “‘I am delighted to be bringing this re-imagined production of the beloved ‘Shrek the Musical’ to audiences across the UK and Ireland.

“The story of Shrek is known and loved across the world and this show is an incredibly joyous, fun and uplifting evening at the theatre that will be enjoyed by all ages.”

Goucher is known for also producing the musicals Hairspray and Priscilla Queen of The Desert.

The family-friendly musical, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film, has been described by The Orchard Theatre as “a perfect night out for the young, and the young at heart, which will have you dancing in the aisles and laughing all the way home.”

The iconic Shrek story sees Shrek and his noble steed Donkey as they set off on a major adventure to save Princess Fiona, featuring the much-loved hit song I’m a Believer.
