Bexley Council has issued an update regarding the £150 council tax rebate for households amid rising energy bills.

Payments are being made over the next week to those who are entitled to the one-off £150 energy rebate and who have not yet received it.

The Council will be making bank transfers to 3,600 households later today.

It will also be sending out around 31,000 cheques from tomorrow (June 1), which everyone who is eligible should receive by the end of next week.

If you are eligible and have not received your payment by Friday, June 10, email energyrebate@bexley.gov.uk.

Bexley Council said that around 75 per cent of those who are eligible and pay their Council Tax by direct debit received their payment several weeks ago.

It has apologised that "practical and technical issues" have delayed payments to other residents sooner.

Councillor David Leaf, Deputy Leader of the Council said: "The £150 rebate payments provide vital help and support to households in Bexley facing pressures caused by rising energy prices and costs of living.

"We were among the first councils in London to start making these payments and we are now able get the payments out to those eligible households who have not already received them.

"I know this has meant some residents have had to wait a little longer for their £150 and I thank them for their patience."
