Whether you’re getting ready to hike, bike, run or walk, Bexley is full of great locations to wander and enjoy this sunny weekend.
BexleyWalks is a free app designed to help residents and visitors find out more about some of Bexley’s hidden treasures.
The app, which can be downloaded on Apple and Android phones, provides guided walks that include maps, facts and images that appear when app users arrive at different stop points on the routes.
Here are five of our top walking routes found on the BexleyWalks app:
Bexley Village
Approximately one hour, this walk explores how Bexley has developed over more than a thousand years, from the buildings and streets to the lives of villagers over the centuries.
The walk begins and finishes at one of Bexley’s beloved locations, Hall Place.
East Wickham
The circular route starts and finishes at St. Michael’s Church and takes just 30-minutes long.
There is plenty of ancient histories hidden throughout this short walk, and visitors can expect to see glimpses of its ancient past, dating back to 1824.
Lesnes Abbey
This historic route begins at Abbey Wood Railway Station and across the ruins of Lesnes Abbey.
There are free public toilets available in the park and will take roughly 40 minutes to complete.
Three Houses Walk: Hall Place, Red House and Danson House
If you’re looking for a longer walk, this route will take roughly two hours and covers three historic houses in the ancient village of old Bexley.
The tour begins at Hall Place, proceeding to Red House and ending at Danson House.
War Memorial Walk: Crayford
This short 30-minute walk takes you downhill from Manor House Memorial down into Crayford – a beloved town rich in Britain’s Great War history.
The walk takes you to St. Paulinus church and churchyard, and past some of the roads and buildings that are more than 100 years old.
