A man has been arrested after more than 100 brown and white wraps of drugs were found during a police stop and search.
The suspect was seen approaching a van on King Alfred Avenue in Bellingham.
Police believed that the man was about to deal drugs to people inside the vehicle.
The man allegedly fled from police, who then chased him on foot before detaining him for a search.

A clear bag of around 100 brown and white wraps and £1690.30 in cash were found.
Keys to a moped and an iPhone were found on the floor as he was being detained.
A snap bag of cannabis and a Nokia phone were also seized by officers at his address.
Police arrested a man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

“Arrested for Possession with intent to Supply Class A drugs
“Great work by our South East Violence Suppression unit
“Suspect has been seen approaching a van on King Alfred Avenue, SE6, believed to about to deal to users in a van.
“Violence Suppression unit officers have detained suspect after a foot chase for a section 23 Use of Drugs search.
“Suspect had on him a clear bag of approximately 100+ brown and white wraps, and £1690.30 cash.
“Keys to moped and iPhone also found on the pavement.
“He was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A.
“Search conducted of his address, Nokia phone and snap bag of cannabis also seized from here.”
