Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing after police found 32 snap bags of cannabis in their car.

Officers followed a vehicle with an unmarked police car until stopping the suspects on York Terrace, Erith.

Both the driver and passenger were detained for a search, where police found one snap bag of cannabis on each of them.

They both also had what police described as a “suspected drug line phone” with messages that officers believe contained further evidence of drug dealing.

A search of the car uncovered a black rucksack placed behind the front passenger seat.

This bag contained 32 snap bags of cannabis and further empty snap bags.

The pair were arrested for possession with intent to supply class B drugs and taken into Lewisham custody.

“Violence suppression unit officers were on patrol when they saw a vehicle which subsequently drove off.

“The driver of the vehicle who continued to drive whilst being followed by an unmarked police vehicle.

“The vehicle was eventually stopped on York Terrace DA8 where both suspects were detained for a section 23 search.

“Both suspects had a suspected drug line phone on them as well as one snap bag of cannabis each.

“Inside the vehicle was a large black rucksack.

“This was located in the rear of the car on the floor behind the front passenger seat.

“Inside this rucksack were 32 snap bags of cannabis and a quantity of empty snap bags.

“Due to the phone having suspected drug messages on them and the large quantity of drugs within in the vehicle, both were arrested for possession with intent to supply Class B and taken to Lewisham custody.”
