POLICE have been given extra powers after a stabbing in Lewisham.
A section 60 order is in place in certain areas of Lewisham.
This means police can stop and search anyone within this area.
It comes after an 18-year-old man was stabbed in Lee High Road yesterday (April 28) at around 3.30pm.
This will cover areas including New Cross Road, Blackheath Hill (North), Goffers Road, B212, A2212 (East), South Circular (South), B218, and Florence Road (West).
The order is in place from 12pm today (April 29) until 2am on April 30.
Officers say police do not need to have "reasonable grounds" in order to stop and search a person.

“Section 60 allows a police officer to stop and search a person without suspicion.
“This is different from ordinary 'stop and search' because it means the police don't need to have 'reasonable grounds' in order to stop and search you.”
