THE winners of the Bexleyheath High Street awards have been revealed during a local celebration.
The awards, which were organised by Bexleyheath Business Improvement District (BID), were celebrated on April 19 at Signature Dining.
The submission process began in February to nominate the best Bexleyheath business.
The aim of the awards was to offer businesses the chance to focus on plans to grow and improve their credibility.
The Kings Arms Pub on Broadway was crowned as the Best Business of 2022.
Kids boutique clothing store, Harris’s, was awarded the Love Your Local Business award.
Mrs P’s Hair was given the Best New Business award.
Bridal store, Bell’amore won the best Establish Business award.
Hays Travel then won the Best Customer Service award.
Caron Linyard, town centre manager of Bexleyheath BID said: “Thank you to so many who have attended tonight and taken part in our first-ever High Street Awards.
“I hope you will agree it has been a fantastic night and I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the judges and for having such a challenge in choosing their winners.
“This is our first year of awards and we hope that it will become an annual event in our calendar.
“We believe that Bexleyheath is the best high street because it can count on so many brilliant people, stores, shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants, market stalls, travel agents, and hairdressers; the list goes on and on.
“The Bexleyheath BID is here to support you, promote you, protect you and celebrate with you.
“We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2022 and beyond.”
The nominees were also praised for their hard work through Covid restrictions and lockdowns.
The winners were then selected following a judging process with a panel of business leaders.
Peter Marshall, owner of the King’s Arms said: “Being voted ‘Business of the Year’ for a high street that we love so much is an absolute honour.
“We, at the King’s Arms, consider it a privilege to celebrate with other local businesses as they deserve every bit of recognition at an event that’s so well deserved after the last two years.
“The fact that we are all still here is an achievement in itself.
“I am so proud of our team, proud of our high street and proud to be a part of such a special event. Well done to everyone involved; let's keep making Bexleyheath great for the wonderful people of Bexley!”
The Royal British Legion also raised around £350 from a raffle during the evening.
BID was supported by Bexley Council, European Regional Development Fund, and HM Government in organising the event.
