Police have released an image of a man after a girl was sexually assaulted on a bus travelling towards Bexleyheath.
The girl, in her mid-teens, boarded the number 99 bus at Woolwich DLR station.
A man she did not know also boarded the bus.
The incident happened on Sunday, February 20 at around 7.30pm.
Both the man and the teen went upstairs to the upper deck of the bus.
The bus travelled along its route towards Bexleyheath where it is reported that the man engaged the girl in conversation before carrying out the sexual assault by inappropriately touching her.
The man is described as Asian, around five foot ten inches tall, and between 18 and 25 years of age.
Following the assault, he got off the bus at Plumstead Manor Way.
Police are asking for any witnesses that may have been travelling on the 99 service or anyone with further information to contact police quoting the reference CAD 1837/22FEB.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police are releasing an image of man they want to speak to in connection with an alleged sexual assault in Woolwich.
“The incident happened on Sunday, 20 February at about 19:30hrs.
“The victim, a girl in her mid-teens, had boarded a number 99 bus at Woolwich DLR station.
“A man, who was not known to the victim, got on the bus at the same time as the girl and both went to the upper deck.
“As the bus travelled towards Bexleyheath the man engaged the girl in conversation and is then alleged to have carried out a sexual assault by inappropriate touching.
“The man is described as aged 18-25, 5ft 10in and of Asian appearance.
“After the assault the man got off the bus at Plumstead Manor Way.
