Police have said there is nothing to suggest two bomb threats made at different shopping centres in south east London last week are linked.

On Tuesday, March 15 at around 10.35am, police were called to reports of a bomb threat at the Bexleyheath Broadway Shopping Centre in Albion Road.

The area was evacuated as police cordoned the scene.

Shoppers were allowed back into the centre at around 2pm.

Then, just after 2pm on Thursday, March 17, police were called to another security alert at The Glades shopping centre in Bromley High Street.

The area was again evacuated as a precuation.

At around 9.20pm, officers said they were no longer present at the Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley.

No arrests have been made in connection with either incident.

The Met Police could not provide more specific information about the nature of the threats.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "No arrests in connection with either incident and nothing to suggest they are linked."

At the time of the alerts, police statements said: "Police were called at 10:37hrs on Tuesday, 15 March, to reports of a bomb threat at a shopping centre on Albion Road, Bexley.

"The area has been evacuated as a precaution.

"Officers are currently in attendance and the incident is ongoing."

And: "Police were called shortly after 2pm on Thursday, 17 March, to reports of a security alert at a shopping centre on High Street, Bromley.

"Officers are in attendance and the incident is ongoing.

"The area has been evacuated as a precaution."
