Fifteen motorists have been fined almost £8,000 after they were caught taking advantage of Blue Badges they were not entitled to in Bromley.
In twelve of the cases, the drivers were prosecuted for using cancelled Blue Badges.
In two of the twelve cases the badges had been reported as lost, in four cases they had been reported as stolen and in six of the cases, the drivers had displayed the badge after the holder had passed away.
In the other three cases, the vehicle owners were prosecuted for “failing to provide information relating to the identification of a driver” after misuse incidents.

Councillor Angela Page, executive councillor for public protection and enforcement, said: “Most of these prosecutions could have been avoided if the Blue Badges had been returned to the council who had issued the Blue Badge.
“I cannot stress strongly enough that any Blue Badge that is no longer needed must be returned - this includes lost and expired badges and those belonging to relatives who have passed away.
“By returning these badges, you’ll be helping us to tackle abuse of the scheme, so please do not delay.
“We will continue to prosecute motorists who do abuse the Blue Badge scheme.
“Not only to protect the integrity of the scheme but to ensure genuine users are not denied the ability to park according to their needs.”
To qualify for a Blue Badge, which allows priority parking, a person must have a permanent and substantial disability that causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking.
They come with conditions, such as that holders must never allow friends or relatives to use the badge to run an errand on their behalf.
