A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after clothes were stolen from a house in Greenwich.

Police were called to reports of a person fleeing from the back door of a home – who was wearing layers of a female victim’s jumpers, leggings, and pink slippers.

According to police, the victims challenged a suspect in the street – who allegedly picked up a length of wood and threatened the victims.

A suspect was tasered by police, as he was running towards officers when they arrived on the scene.

Police say the suspect made homophobic comments towards the attended officers.

The suspect was arrested suspicion of burglary and breaching S4A of the public order act.

The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of breaching a community protection order.

 

 Greenwich police said: “Arrested for Burglary, Breach of Community Protection order and Section 4A Public order.

“Great work by response Team now will be dealt with our Burglary and Robbery Team (BRIT) More below.

“The victims have returned home and seen the suspect fleeing from the back door of their property.

“He had stolen and was wearing several layers of the female victim’s jumpers, leggings and some pink slippers.

“The victims challenged the suspect in the street who picked up a length of wood and threatened the victims with it.

“Officers arrived on the scene and the suspect was running towards the officers so was subject to Taser red dot challenge.

“He was arrested for burglary and then after making homophobic comments towards the attended officers was arrested for S4a public order act.

“Suspect is also subject to a community protection on order and has been arrested for breaching it.”
