Subway has opened a VIP pop-up restaurant experience on a yacht in London - my thoughts

However, with the ‘Meal Deal Millionaire’ prize draw the company is currently running, a new pop-up restaurant has been set up in London, which intends to add a VIP level to the usual experience of a Subway lunch.

A yacht was the venue for this, located next to the N Dock Footbridge on West India Quay, which will be available for people to try out on Thursday and Friday this week (March 10 and 11)

When I was offered the chance to try it out, I jumped at the opportunity to see what it would be like.

Arrival

The yacht was to be found moored on the West India Quay, which was just a short walk from the Canary Wharf tube station, and exceptionally close to the DLR West India Quay station.

On arrival I was greeted by the captain and his second in command in the lounge area of the vessel. From there you can get a glass of champagne or a choice of soft drinks, juices or water.

For the occasion, I went for a glass of bubbly, and from there was directed out to a waiting area outside to look at the menu.

You could choose from eight different foot-long subs, including Italian B.M.T, Chicken & Bacon and Brie, alongside either cookies or some crisps if you wished.

After that you could relax for a little while, before the second in command took you upstairs to the dining area of the vessel.

The Subway VIP Experience

Several nicely decorated tables were to be found upstairs, with a service bell should you need some assistance, as well as a knife and fork if you wanted to eat your sub that way.

There was even a DJ up there with you playing some music!

After a short while the food came out and I had gone with the Chicken & Bacon sub.

If I order Subway that's usually what I go for, and it held up to its usual solid standard.

The difference was the impeccable service of the crew, and the fact you literally get your food delivered to you on a silver platter.

It adds a bit of a different edge to sitting in the usual Subway restaurant. The overall experience makes it a worthwhile endeavour.

Final Verdict

If you like Subway anyway you are not going to be disappointed by the food, but it's the different experience to enjoying the Sub that would really make it good to give it a try.

Of course the champagne doesn't hurt, and the effort put into the service should be highly commended.

How you can book a table on the Subway yacht

As mentioned previously the experience will be available for just two days on Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11.

It is free to book on the Eventbrite page here, with it being open from 12-3.30pm for a one hour bookable table.
