Donation hubs across the UK have been piling high with items as more and more fundraising appeals are launched to help those fleeing Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.
Donating is a vital and practical way to help Ukrainians as a humanitarian crisis unfolds in their country.
There are a handful of spots in south east London where people can drop off items this weekend and we’ve listed their details below.

The Polish Centre Lewisham
8 Waldram Park Rd, SE23 2PN
The Lewisham Polish centre in Forest Hill centre is accepting donations ranging from blankets and pillows to personal hygiene products and tourniquets.
The following items are needed:
- Thermal blankets
- Sleeping bags
- Bedding
- Military mattresses
- Blankets
- Raincoats
- Pillows
- Personal hygiene products
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Wet wipes c
- Nappies
- Paper towels
- Antibacterial fluids
- Medical spirit
- Disposable and reusable masks
- Dressings (i.e. granules for quick staunching)
- Wound disinfectant
- Bandages
- Tourniquets to stop blood
- Field tents
- Camp beds
- Coal furnaces/fires
- Cooking cauldrons
- Microfibre towels
- Reusable tableware sets i.e. plates and cutlery
- Batteries of various sizes
- Candles
- Flashlights
Clothing and food are also being sought by the centre alongside packaging and boxes.
It is asked that anyone donating clothing ensures items are packaged as flatly as possible and that they are grouped into the following categories:
- Adult male
- Adult female
- Child male
- Child female
The following long-life, lightweight foods are wanted:
- Instant powdered soup
- Instant oats
- Camping rations
- Energy bars
- Dried fruits
- Pasta
Donations can be made at the following times:
- Monday 9.30am - 12pm and 6pm - 8pm
- Tuesday 5.30pm - 8pm
- Friday 5.30pm - 7.30pm
Piast
3 Hollybush Terrace, Westow St, SE19 3SD
This Crystal Palace Polish deli is collecting items for Lewisham’s Polish Centre, so anyone unable to make it to Forest Hill can drop items off here.
Piast is looking for:
- Pet food
- Adult nappies for soldiers
- Children’s nappies
- Formula milk

Plough Way Off Licence
13-15 Plough Way, Surrey Quays, SE16 2LS
Plough Way Off Licence in Surrey Quays is currently collecting donations to send to Ukraine.
Anyone donating items must box them up and make sure they are properly sealed.
Plough Way Off Licence is asking for:
- Painkillers
- Children’s sweets
- Nappies
- Women’s sanitary products
