There are delays of “well over” an hour on the M25 approaching the Dartford Crossing as a result of the QE2 Bridge’s closure.
The bridge closed yesterday afternoon before the arrival of Storm Franklin, which has caused travel disruption across the country.
All traffic travelling southbound/clockwise on the M25 is being diverted through the east bore tunnel.
Northbound crossing traffic is being diverted through the west bore Dartford tunnel, with a height restriction of 4'8m (15'9").
Wind speeds at the crossing were as high as 62mph, according to measurements on Monday afternoon, making the bridge unsafe for use.
National Highways is unable to give an estimated reopening time for the bridge at this stage.
