PALACE defenders Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell have been backed for call ups to Gareth Southgate's England squad.
Nathaniel Clyne reckons the two young defenders are both good enough to make the step up to the national side.
The 30-year-old was capped 14 times himself believes that the experience of international football would be good for the players and the club itself.
“They are definitely on the verge [of it]. They are both performing really well, and they’re both putting in man of the match performances – they haven’t put a foot wrong,” he said per London News Online.
Mitchell has been in good form for Palace this season and was named the club's won player of the month in November.
The defender is also doing well in comparison to the rest of the Premier League as he has made the second-most tackles the league season with 77, only Christian Nørgaard of Brentford has made more, 87.
Clyne said: “They are growing and getting better with every game they can.
“If they continue the way that they’re going, I can see them getting a call-up and hopefully they can make an appearance for England.
“It will be good for them and for the club as well.”
Guehi has also been in good form and manager Patrick Vieira has urged the defender to maintain his level of performance.
“What I am sure about is Marc has the potential,” Vieira said when quizzed on the possibility of a senior call-up for the Young Lions skipper.
“Now it is about maintaining these kind of performances, to improve and to keep improving and then there is a manager (Gareth Southgate) who will make his decision.
“When his name is being mentioned, that’s a good start but it’s about what he will do in the next couple of weeks, next couple of months and next couple of years that will dictate if he has the level to go international or not.
“The potential is there.”
