A dramatic video shows the shell of The O2 in Greenwich being completely battered by Storm Eunice winds.

It comes as a red weather warning has been issued by the Met Office today as Storm Eunice hits London.

The shell can be seen rustling as the wind blows, with parts of it having already been ripped into shreds by the power of the storm.

Danny Missen works at the O2, and sent us the footage before being evacuated out.

He told the News Shopper: "The shopping district (the icon) has been evacuated the restaurant part will be getting evacuated soon.

"Eight panels of the tent has come apart."

A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said around 1,000 people were evacuated from the building.

The O2 is now closed until further notice.

Drome footage also shows "more and more" of the shell being shredded, as the structure becomes open to the wind.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to a partial roof collapse at the O2 events venue in Greenwich.

"Strong winds caused by Storm Eunice had partially torn the canvas roof from the building.

"Around 1,000 people were evacuated from the building before the Brigade arrived.

"Fortunately, there were no repots of any injuries.

"The Brigade was called at 1329 and the incident was over fore fighters by 1407. One fire engine from East Greenwich Fire Station was at the scene."

Station Commander Chris Kamara, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters cordoned off the area to ensure no one was injured by any further falling debris.

"There has been no actual collapse or structural damage to the building, but due to the nature of the canvas material which covers the O2, it has come loose in high winds and looks quite dramatic.

"Crews have made the scene safe and the O2 is now closed until further notice."

Sadiq Khan has told Londoners to stay at home, while the London Underground is facing major delays and closures.

Rail companies have advised passengers not to travel, and anyone driving today has been issued with an urgent message.
