Top five busiest train stations in south east London revealed

The figures, based on ticket sales, show the most used stations in the region between 2020 and 2021 by Office of Rail and Road in an annual statistical release.

London Bridge was named the busiest train station in south east London with more than 13.7 million passengers.

Lewisham Station ranks second with more than 2.5 million passengers using the line.

Peckham Rye follows in at third with more than 2 million people entering and exiting the station.

Bromley South railway ranks fourth with more than 2 million passengers recorded using the line.

Following in at fifth with more than 1.5 million passengers is Woolwich Arsenal station.

The figures also revealed that the number of passenger journeys across Britain was down by 78 per cent, compared to 2019, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are the top five used train stations in south east London:

1. London Bridge: 13,763,890

2. Lewisham: 2,554,894

3. Peckham Rye: 2,029,162

4. Bromley South: 2,024,926

5. Woolwich Arsenal: 1,530,212

Only 12.2 million people used London Waterloo which was down from 86.9 million in 2019 - making it the fourth busiest station in Britain.

Stratford was named Britain’s busiest with more than 14 million passengers travelling through the line.

Birmingham New Street was the busiest station outside London, with more than 7.4 million passengers.
