Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a 21-year-old in Eltham are appealing for witnesses to “an altercation involving a group” to come forward.
Bartosz Wyrzykowski, known as Bartek to family and friends, was attacked on Lionel Road at around 5.10pm on Tuesday, February 8, on his way to buy milk.
He died in an east London hospital a short time later.
Detective Inspector Mel Pressley said: “I want to reassure the local community that a team of experienced and dedicated officers are working tirelessly to ensure those responsible for Bartek’s murder are identified and apprehended.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident to come forward and speak to police.
“Lionel Road would have been busy at around 5pm – did you see an altercation involving a group of people; did you capture any of the incident on your phone?
“If you can help, please get in contact with my team as the information you hold could prove vital to progressing this investigation.”
Police are yet to make any arrests, as enquiries continue.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at Greenwich Mortuary today (February 11).
A GoFundMe launched by a friend of his mum, Anna, who was at the scene as CPR was performed, described the circumstances surrounding his murder.
The page, written by Ola Bradford, reads: “Bartek was attacked on Tuesday, February 8, outside of a local grocery shop. He went out with his girlfriend to get some milk.
“Following unsuccessful attempts of saving his life, he sadly passed away shortly after.
“He was 21 years old and had his whole life ahead of him, about to start a new job.
“His family and friends are devastated and in shock.
“I would like to help them in their grief and therefore set up this GoFundMe page to help with the funeral costs.
“His parents are hardworking and honest people who always tried to help others.”
The GoFundMe has already raised more than £6,000.
