TWO new Conservative councillors have been elected following the Dartford Borough Council by-elections last week (January 27).

The residents of Wilmington, Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley went to the polls on Thursday morning to elect a new councillor.

It was announced that George Holt had won the Wilmington, Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley seat.

Kyle Stealey was also elected to represent the Maypole and Leyton Cross ward.

George Holt of the Conservative party was elected by gaining 996 votes (67.85 per cent).

Maria Perry who represents the Labour Party came in second by gaining 272 votes (18.58 per cent).

Jane Hatzimasouras of the Liberal Democrats follows in at third with 200 votes (13.62 per cent).

It was a similar result in the Maypole and Leyton cross ward as Kyle Stealey also of the Conservative Party was elected by gaining 334 votes (63.14 per cent).

Julian Patrick Hood who represents the Green Party came in at second with 76 votes (14.37 per cent).

Leah Uwaibi who represents the Labour Party gained 65 votes (12.29 per cent) during the election coming in at third.

Kyle Marsh a representative of the Liberal Democrats gained 54 votes (10.21 per cent) coming in at fourth.

There was also a vote for the vacant Wilmington seat on Kent County Council.

A Dartford serving borough councillor Avtar Sandhu was also elected to the Wilmington seat for Kent County Council.

The turnout in the Maypole and Leyton Cross was 24.5 per cent and in Wilmington, Sutton-at-Hone and Hawley 24.1 per cent.

The count took place at Dartford Civic Centre.
