A 26-year-old has been charged after a police officer was seriously injured by a motorcycle going the wrong way on the M25 near Dartford.
Charlie Bishop, of Hill House Road, Dartford, was charged on Monday (January 24) with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, causing serious injury by driving dangerously and aggravated vehicle taking in relation to the incident on Sunday.
At around 3pm police patrols and a helicopter responded to reports of a suspected stolen motorcycle in north Kent.
At around 4.05pm on the anti-clockwise carriageway near Junction 3, the motorcycle hit a roads policing constable who was out of his vehicle.
The officer, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to a London hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
A suspect was arrested later the same day in Dartford.
Bishop was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 25.
Investigators are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have witnessed the incident to contact the appeal line.
They are also keen to hear from anyone with privately held CCTV, or motorists with dashcam footage that may assist the investigation.
