A man was fined more than £400 for gathering at a Brockley plumbers while the country was in strict lockdown.
Charles Barrett, 66, “participated in a gathering” at Goldcrest Plumbers on Upper Brockley Road, which was also given as his address, where two or more people were in attendance “without reasonable excuse”, on January 11, 2021.
London was in Tier 4 at the time, which saw people only allowed to leave home for essential purposes, such as to buy food and medical supplies, or for daily exercise.
Barrett was found guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court on January 12, 2022.
He was fined at initial £300 for the offence, an extra £34 to fund victim services and £110 for the costs of the Crown Prosecution Service.
Barrett was given until February 9 to pay the total amount of £444.
