The powers of traffic officers in Bexley have been questioned after an enforcement vehicle was parked on double yellow lines.
A man, who wishes to remain anonymous, saw the traffic enforcement car parked “illegally” on double yellow lines in Church Avenue in Sidcup.
He captured the parked car at around 2pm on December 29, 2021.
He has since questioned "how they can enforce traffic regulations when they are illegally parked themselves”.
The man also added that this is “not the first time” he has spotted officers operating from the double yellow-lined spot.
A spokesperson for Bexley Council assured that these vehicles are “exempt” from waiting, loading and other restrictions when enforcement officers are carrying out “their statutory duty”.
They added that this was as long as they aren't parked dangerously or obstructively.
The full Bexley Council statement said: "These vehicles are exempt from waiting, loading and other restrictions when Enforcement Officers are carrying out their statutory duty, as long as they are not parked in a dangerous way or causing an obstruction."
