A man has been taken to hospital after an incident at the Premier Inn hotel last night (December 29) in Orpington.
Police were called at 10:15pm following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
A man, in his 30s, was detained under the Mental Health Act.
The man was treated at the scene and taken to a south London hospital.
Officers say the building was evacuated as a precaution.
No injuries were reported.
Police confirm that they were called to the Premier Inn hotel at the Walnuts Centre in Orpington.
The London Ambulance Service also attended the scene at 10.19pm.
Orpington Police tweeted that reports of a chemical incident are incorrect.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.19pm yesterday (29 December) to reports of an incident inside a hotel near Orpington High Street.
“We sent a number of resources including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.
“We treated a patient at the scene and took them to hospital.”
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 22:15hrs on Wednesday, 29 December following concerns for the welfare of a man at a hotel in The Walnuts, Orpington.
“The building was evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service.
“A man, aged in his 30s, was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to a south London hospital.”
Orpington Police (@MPSOrpington) tweeted: “You may have seen a large number of emergency vehicles on Orpington High Street last night.
“We were responding to concerns for a man who was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
“Reports about a chemical incident are incorrect.
“No injuries were reported.”
