A Lewisham man has been charged with robbing the home of Olympic cyclist Mark Cavendish.
Romario Henry, 30, of Bell Green, will appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court today (Monday December 20) charged with two counts of robbery.
Two 27-year-old men – one from Gillingham and one from Camberwell – were also arrested last week. They have been released on bail until January 12.
Four intruders allegedly entered Cavendish’s home in the Ongar area of Essex in the early hours of November 27, as he was recovering from significant injuries from a crash at a track event in Belgium.
They allegedly left with two watches, which Cavendish said were “of great sentiment and value”, and a Louis Vuitton suitcase.
Essex Police continue to appeal for information.
Anyone who was in the Ongar area between 2am and 2.40am on November 27 and saw someone acting suspiciously is asked to contact Loughton CID, quoting reference 42/275184/21.
