INVESTIGATIONS are continuing following a house fire in Bexleyheath.
The area remains cordoned off as police continue to guard the scene.
Two infants and two women were pulled from the first floor of the property, but sadly they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the tragedy at around 8.30pm yesterday evening (November 18) to Hamilton Road.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police said that the children are believed to be an infant boy and girl.
The police do not believe the cause of the fire is to be suspicious and no arrests have been made.
The cousin of the husband, who gave his name as Jega, had attended the scene earlier today, where he said the husband got a call from his wife who was shouting “Fire, Fire”.
The identity of those killed not yet been confirmed.
The family were of Sri Lankan heritage, said the cousin.
Matt Cook, the LFB deputy assistant commissioner for the South East, in a news conference today (November 19) said they have specialist investigating officers from the fire investigations team.
He added: “We are working closely with the Metropolitan Police service and local specialist investigators to try to understand the causation of this incident.”
