A woman has been seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Blackfen this afternoon (Saturday, November 6).
A photograph taken close to the scene of the crash on Blackfen Road in Sidcup showed a heavy emergency services presence around 12.40pm after the crash took place.
Police later confirmed that a woman had been taken to the hospital with serious injuries, adding that the driver involved in the crash had not stopped.
Responding to a request from News Shopper, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called to Blackfen Road, Sidcup at 12:16hrs on Saturday, 6 November following reports of a road traffic collision. Officers attended with medics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance. A woman, believed to be aged 52, sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle which did not stop at the scene."
The spokesperson added that she was now in hospital, and that they had since launched an information appeal and were urging anyone with information to contact them:
"She has been taken to a south London hospital and we await an update on her condition. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has camera footage – either from a dash cam or a doorbell camera – should call 101 with the reference 3413/06NOV. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
London Ambulance Service were contacted for comment.
