The Queen returned to work for her first royal engagement since her ordered medical rest.
The 95-year-old monarch carried out the engagement with an audience through a video call from her Berkshire residence, Windsor Castle.
The video call was the head of state's first public appearance since she was ordered to rest by doctors seven days ago.
The rest forced the 95-year-old to cancel her trip to Northern Ireland and saw her spend her first overnight hospital stay in eight years.
But today in the Queen's first appearance since the stay, she was seen smiling during the audience, wearing a yellow dress with a three-strand pearl necklace.
The Queen's first engagement since medical rest
The engagement saw the Queen greet ambassadors from the Republic of Korea, Gunn Kim who was accompanied by Mrs Heejung Lee, and the ambassador from the Swiss Confederation, Markus Leitner accompanied by his wife Nicole Leitner.
Whilst the ambassadors and the companions traveled to Buckingham Palace to join the video call, the 95-year-old joined from her Windsor Castle residence whilst her team of royal physicians care for her.
The Sunday Times was briefed by the Royal sources on the Queen's need for medical rest, stating it was down to her being “knackered” due to a busy social life, a particular preference for late-night television, and having a lot of engagements in October.
But with the 95-year-old slowly returning from her doctored ordered rest, there is speculation that she is still planning to attend events in Scotland next week as part of royal Cop26 engagements.
