The latest case rates have been released for every local authority area in England and in most of them, infections are rising again.

Nationally, 325 out of the 377 local areas in England (86 per cent) have seen a rise in cases, and 51 (14 per cent) have seen a fall.

One is unchanged.

These figures are accurate for the seven days to October 11 – with most recent days excluded for accuracy.

They are compared with a week prior – the seven days to October 4.

The figures are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Bexley

The Covid rate in Bexley has risen from 207.4 (517 cases) to 224.2 (559 cases).

Bromley

In Bromley, the rate is 242.2 (806 cases), having risen from 214.6 (714 cases).

Greenwich

The rate in Greenwich is 207.9 (601 cases), having risen from 195.5 (565 cases) the week prior.

Lewisham

Lewisham has a rate of 172.9 (528 cases) which has risen from 158.2 (483 cases).

Southwark

In Southwark, the coronavirus case rate has fallen from 146.6 (469 cases) to 128.7 (412 cases).

Dartford

Nearby in Dartford, cases have risen from a rate of 243.8 (278 cases) to 331.4 (378 cases).

Wellingborough in Northamptonshire has the highest rate in the UK, with 652 new cases in the seven days to October 11 – the equivalent of 814.2 per 100,000 people.

This is up from 649.3 in the seven days to October 4.

Trafford in Greater Manchester has the second highest rate, up from 670.1 to 785.4, with 1,866 new cases.

Ipswich in Suffolk has the third highest rate, up from 568.5 to 770.7, with 1,048 new cases.

The list has been calculated by the PA news agency using data published on October 15 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
