A man has appeared in court after refusing to buy a £2.70 fare for a train journey.
James Robery, 41, travelled on a Southeastern train from Bickley to Bromley South on September 7, 2020 but did not buy the correct ticket for travel.
The defendant, of Kingsgate Close in Orpington, was consequently fined £391.70 during a hearing at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on September 14 this year.
This was for travelling on railway without paying a fare with intent to avoid payment.
This includes a fine of £220, compensation for the ticket of £2.70, a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £135.
This was ordered to be paid by August 11, 2021.
The verdict was proved in the absence of the defendant.
