Man pulls knife on motorist at Welling Shell fuel station

The Metropolitan Police said officers responded to reports of a disturbance outside the Shell garage in Bellegrove Road, Welling, south-east London, on Monday.

A video posted to social media shows a man with a blade behind his back arguing with a driver before being carried a few metres on the vehicle's bonnet.

The man is then seen kicking out at the car twice before it reverses away.

Police said no injuries were reported and no suspects were identified when they attended the scene.

In the video, the motorist, driving a blue Citroen, had reportedly pushed in to the queue at the Shell garage when he was challenged by a passenger queueing in another car.

Fellow drivers stayed inside their cars as the man walked up to the vehicle and was seen clutching a knife before being thrown onto the bonnet on Monday afternoon.

Stefan Silva, 29, an engineer from Kent, was among motorists who witnessed the chaos unfold in Welling.

He told The Evening Standard: “He tried to queue jump, basically.

“The man was shouting and saying ‘I’m going to slice him. Everybody else has been queueing up for hours. Why don’t you queue up?’

In a statement, the Met Police said: "Police were called at 2.37pm on Monday 27 September to reports of a disturbance involving two motorists outside a petrol garage in Bellegrove Road, Welling.

"Officers attended and found no trace of either vehicle. No injuries were reported and no suspects were identified.

"We are aware of footage online which appears to show the incident and will review this as part of our ongoing inquiries."
