Gravesend residents will be able to travel directly into the capital by boat this summer, as Uber temporarily extends its Thames Clippers service to North Kent.
Two special Saturday services on August 7 and 14 will ferry passengers from Gravesend Town Pier at 9.45am, calling at Tibury and North Greenwich, before terminating at London Bridge at 11am.
Passengers can disembark and explore nearby attractions such as Tower Bridge, Borough Market and The Shard, or join the regular Thames Clipper service which travels further down the river by purchasing an All Day ticket.
Sean Collins, CEO and co-founder, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers comments: “We remain committed to growing the River Bus network in London and further east.
“We want as many residents as possible to realise the benefits of travelling by river in and out of London, in terms of speed, comfort and frequency.
“We are optimistic about the volume of passengers opting to use this special leisure service, and we hope soon to be able to offer this additional transport link permanently to Gravesend and Tilbury.”
Located beside The O2 and Emirates Air Line, North Greenwich is also an ideal summer-day-out destination.
In the evening, the boat leaves London Bridge City Pier at 5.30pm, arriving back in Gravesend at 6.45pm.
Uber teamed up with Thames Clippers in August last year, allowing users to purchase tickets for in advance through its app and then use QR technology to board.
Prices for the Gravesend service start from £11 per person for a single adult journey, or £19.50 for an adult return journey.
Tickets must be pre-booked online at www.thamesclippers.com/gravesend-tilbury-london.
