The results of the large patient-led survey of GP surgeries across the region are in and have revealed the "best" and "worst" rated surgeries in south east London.
The results are based on the vast GP Patient Survey 2021, which in south east London CCG having sent out some 90,261 questionnaires, of which 25,309 were returned completed (a 28 per cent response rate).
Overall in south east London they showed a high percentage of patients that were satisfied with their GPs.
Some 81 per cent of respondents said their experience of their GP practice was 'Good' (43 per cent 'Very Good', 38 per cent 'Fairly Good') in the region,.
Best Overall Performers
The best performing practice in south east London was the QHS GP Care Home Service on Old Jamaica Road in Southwark. A staggering 100 per cent of respondents described their overall experience of the GP as 'Good'.
Second was Ingleton Avenue Surgery in Bexley, with 98 per cent 'Good' rating, followed by Lee Road Surgery in Lewisham (96 per cent), Bursted Wood Surgery in Bexleyheath (96 per cent) and St James' Practice in Beckenham (95 per cent).
Worst Overall Performers
At the other end of the scale according to the data was the Trinity Medical Centre in Plumstead. Just 43 per cent of patient respondents rated the practice as 'Good' in the survey.
Other surgeries that performed worst overall in the data included Welling Medical Practice (54 per cent), Bexley Group Practice (59 per cent)*, and the Crescent Surgery (60 per cent) in Orpington.
Ease of getting through to GP on the phone
Another key point of interest for patients, especially in the age of Covid-19, concerned how easy it was to contact one's GP over the phone.
In south east London overall according to the data, Southwark's QHS GP Care Home Service again came out on top, with 100 per cent of respondents saying it was 'Easy' to reach their GP via the phone at the surgery.
Also among the best performers in this regard as per the data were the Vassal Medical Centre in Camberwell (96 per cent), Doctor Wickremesinghe SSG (95 per cent) and Brockwell Park Surgery in Dulwich (95 per cent).
The GP practice with the lowest percentage of respondents saying it was 'Easy' to get through to their GP on the phone was St John's Medical Centre in Lewisham, with just 29 per cent.
Elsewhere, low scores in this regard were also recorded for the Sydenham Green Group Practice (32 per cent), and Welling Medical Practice (33 per cent).
Making an appointment
The survey in this instance asked respondents about their 'overall experience in making an appointment'.
The best overall performer in this regard was the Ingleton Avenue Surgery in Bexley, with 94 per cent of respondents describing their overall appointment experience as 'Good'.
Similarly impressive on their appointment performances were Doctor Wickremesinghe SSG (93 per cent), Southwark's QHS GP Care Home Service (92 per cent) and Camberwell's Vassal Medical Centre (92 per cent).
Worst among the GP practices in south east London for overall appointment experience rated as 'Good' according to the data was the Welling Medical Practice (35 per cent), followed by the Greenwich Peninsula Practice (41 per cent), and the Bexley Group Practice (43 per cent)*.
