Shocking footage has captured a man narrowly escaping death after he jumped onto the tracks at Belvedere station just seconds before a train flew past at high-speed.
The shirtless man appears to deliberately hop over the platform edge, holding a bottle of beer, at around 10.30pm on June 23.
Shocked members of the public begin to panic as they notice a train is coming, shouting "get up", while the man seems stuck on the rails.
A man in a white shirt reaches down towards him as the train approaches, pulling away a split-second before the Thameslink service rushes by.
As the train gradually slows down, onlookers fear the worst.
The man, who survived by rolling into the corridor of space underneath the platform, was taken to hospital for treatment.
A criminal investigation is now underway into the incident.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Belvedere station at 10.28pm on 23 June following a report of an injured person on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, and a man was taken to hospital for treatment.
“A criminal investigation into the incident is now underway, and enquiries are ongoing.”
