Police have named the 74-year-old killed in Lewisham last week as the man accused of his murder appears in court.
Christopher Martin has been identified as the elderly man found critically injured at an address in Wild Goose Drive in New Cross just before 5am on Friday, May 28.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the 74-year-old victim sadly died at the scene.
A post-mortem examination held on Saturday, 29 May, gave cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, chest and abdomen.
Jack Forde, 23, of Wild Goose Drive, was charged with murder on May 30, and has since appeared at the Old Bailey on Thursday, June 3.
Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating, and it is believed the victim and suspect were known to each other.
Forde will next appear at the same court on Thursday, 19 August.
