A London bus driver strike will go ahead on Thursday after talks aimed at resolving a dispute over pay and conditions ended without agreement.
Members of Unite employed by London United covering routes in south and west London will walk out for 24 hours.
Talks were held at the conciliation service Acas between the union and the company, a subsidiary of French firm RATP, but they broke up without agreement on Wednesday evening.
Bus drivers in the capital have already spent multiple days on strike in April alone over the pay and conditions dispute.
The angered workers walked out at the end of March, and carried out further industrial action on April 7 and 14.
Unite regional officer, Michelle Braveboy, said at the time: “The strikes will inevitably cause severe disruption to thousands of bus passengers.
“Unite members are taking this action as a last resort, as they will not allow RATP to use the cover of the Covid pandemic to downgrade their pay and conditions.”
Transport for London say bus strikes are planned on Monday 26 April, Friday 7 May and Saturday 8 May.
If they go ahead, they are likely to affect bus services across west and southwest London and parts of Surrey.
TfL also published this list of the areas most affected by the strikes:
- White City/Shepherds Bush
- Acton
- Heathrow
- Hounslow
- Kingston
- Richmond
- Surbiton
- Wimbledon
- Sutton
Travel advice
Check before you travel by bus on strike days. Allow more time for your journey.
Where possible, consider walking or cycling to local destinations, or other transport alternatives. Santander cycles can be hired in Putney and Hammersmith for journeys into central London. If possible, travel at quiet times.
No additional ticket acceptance will be in place. Bus and Tram passes are valid on all London Buses. Use Pay as you go for alternative journeys.
