A Romanian man has appeared in court accused of stabbing his partner to death with a pair of scissors in Plumstead.
Vasile Bratu, 39, of no fixed address, allegedly plunged the blade into the back of 50-year-old Constanta Bunea on Easter Sunday.
Ms Bunea, also a Romanian national, was found dead in the bathroom of a flat in Ravine Grove, Plumstead, south-east London.
Emergency services were called at 2:20am on April 4 and despite the best efforts of paramedics, the woman sadly passed at the scene.
The block of flats were cordoned off whilst forensic officers gathered evidence and enquiries developed, and a man, aged 39, was arrested at the scene.
Police said the pair were known to each other, and we now know they were partners.
Bratu was charged with murder on Tuesday, 6 April and appearred in custody at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 7 April.
Bratu appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday, April 9, charged with her murder.
The defendant, who appeared by video link from custody, sobbed throughout the hearing.
Judge Anne Molyneux QC set a plea hearing for June 25 at the Old Bailey and remanded the defendant into custody.
