£11 million of funding has been issued to more than 100 organisations across south London to help provide financial support amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Government’s Culture Recovery Fund was set up in the midst of the pandemic to help support theatres, galleries, performance groups, arts organisations and local venues to reopen and recover.
2,700 cultural and creative organisations are to receive a share of more than £400 million in grants and loans across the country, as part of a financial boost from the £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.
This includes more than £300 million, which has been awarded in grants through Arts Council England, Historic England, National Lottery Heritage Fund and the British Film Institute.
The full funding for south London boroughs Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Kingston, Lewisham, Richmond, and Sutton totals £11,421,748, with different groups receiving different amounts.
Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said:
“Our record-breaking Culture Recovery Fund has already helped thousands of culture and heritage organisations across the country survive the biggest crisis they've ever faced.
Now we’re staying by their side as they prepare to welcome the public back through their doors - helping our cultural gems plan for reopening and thrive in the better times ahead."
