A woman has died after she was fatally stabbed in Greenwich in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 4).
Paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS) and officers from the Met Police rushed to the scene of the stabbing after they were called at 02.18am this morning to a block of flats in Ravine Grove, Greenwich.
The emergency first responders found a seriously injured woman inside, suffering stab injuries.
"Despite the efforts of paramedics, the woman died around an hour later," a Met Police spokesperson confirmed later on Sunday morning.
The Met said they were now working to establish the identity of the woman, and that a post-mortem examination would be taking place.
"A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station," the Met said.
Police cordons meanwhile remain in place at the location in Ravine Grove, as the Met's inquiries continue.
A witness appeal has also been launched. Anyone with information that may assist police, are asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting ref 914/04APR.
