A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Kennington, south London, in a "terrible attack", police said.
Met Police officers and the London Ambulance Service rushed to Black Princes Estate, SE11, around 10pm last night (July 11), where a 30-year-old man was found with stab wounds.
Despite the efforts of paramedics and police, the man died at the scene.
The Met Police said a man wad lost his life "and a family left suffering unimaginable grief because of the callous use of a knife to inflict fatal injuries."
Shortly after, a 26-year-old took himself to hospital with stab wounds which police believed he sustained in the same incident, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
The victim's family have been informed and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is leading the investigation, said: "Officers who were called to the incident and then paramedics worked to save him, but tragically he died at the scene.
"I will do all I can to get justice for this family, and, along with colleagues from my homicide teams, I will use every available tactic to find whoever is responsible for this terrible attack.
"Our investigation is at an early stage, but we are already building a picture of what happened. I would urge any witnesses who have yet to speak to police to call my officers or contact Crimestoppers anonymously to share what they know."
Additional patrols will take place in and around the Black Prince Estate and Kennington area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the force's incident room on 020 8345 3775 or online.
Information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
