A HAIRDRESSER has smashed the world record for cutting hair underwater to raise money for a children's charity appeal.
David Rae, owner of The David Rae Hair Spa in Station Square, Petts Wood, raised £1,400 in sponsorship for Children in Need through his efforts.
The previous world record, according to Guinness World Records, stood at 11 haircuts in one hour but Mr Rae managed to do 33.
Mr Rae, 27, from Bexleyheath, said: "It was tricky to cut hair underwater but it was easier than I thought it would be.
"It was a fantastic experience. I would do it again 10 times over. I think I'll try do the deepest haircut next time."
The world record attempt was held at the London School of Diving in Chiswick and each haircut took an average of 1min 50secs to complete.
