The boundary wall at Woolwich New Cemetery has been badly damaged and a number of bricks from it have been stolen.

It is understood that thieves have taken bricks from the wall, with pictures showing the boundary wall almost completely pulled down in one section, and bricks piled up nearby.

Greenwich Council said they are aware that a number of bricks had been taken by thieves, and the Met Police have also been informed.

Woolwich New Cemetery is located in south-east Woolwich on Kings Highway on land that was formerly Plumstead Common.

Cemeteries in the borough were temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, but have since reopened.
