THE institute has been very busy the last two months starting with the summer party There was a friendly game of darts against Otford WI and a knit-in at a member's house.
Members visited The Houses of Parliament and followed this with lunch at Harvey Nicholls.
Another outing took members into Constable country.
The weather was fine and the scenery was beautiful.
Chelsfield village had its usual produce show and many WI members entered. Some won prizes.
An outing to Kent Gate District was interesting, especially the talk on gardening by Tom Hart Dyke. Our speaker at the village hall for September, Mr Simpson, discussed child trafficking.
He was an excellent speaker and held members' attention with some of the things that happen in his line of work.
Six ladies took part in a whist day but were not the winners. Maybe next time.
A meeting was held for various institutes at Farnborough Village hall. The speaker was Barbara Stevens who spoke on her days as a journalist.
Some WI business was discussed and the afternoon passed very pleasantly.
In the evening Mrs Stevens spoke on a different subject and the monthly meeting came and went very quickly, always a sign of an enjoyable time.
This is a small but busy institute. If you would like to join, call 01689 821592.
