A SCHOOL has been targeted by burglars and vandals.

Athelney Primary School, Firhill Road, Catford, had a door damaged during an attempted burglary on October 25.

The would-be burglars did not get into the school and nothing was taken.

Later the same day, PCSOs Yves Mapli-Kpakpoe and Jagdev Singh, from the Bellingham Safer Neighbourhood Team, were on patrol in Firhill Road and heard the sound of glass being smashed.

When they looked over the school fence they saw three boys smashing a window and CCTV camera.

Two of the youths were detained by the officers and they were then arrested by officers from Lewisham police on suspicion of criminal damage and burglary.

A 14-year-old boy was later given an official warning for criminal damage and a 15-year-old youth was given a warning for vagrancy.
