THE club needs new members to enable it to continue its good work in the community.

It recently raised £400 for a variety of charities with a bucket shake at Sainsbury's in Otford.

Spokesman Malcolm Lowing said: "We are grateful to Sainsburys for allowing us to collect in the store.

"We were also delighted with the generosity of shoppers.

"Unfortunately, we were not able to take full advantage of this opportunity to raise funds for our charitable causes, because we did not have sufficient manpower to collect all day on both days."

No particular skills are required to be a Lion, as members are described as "ordinary people doing amazing things".

There is no specific age range and people from all backgrounds are welcome to join.

The Lions have made a number of donations in the past 12 months, including: £1,400 to Demelza House Children's Hospice and £500 to St John Ambulance in Biggin Hill.

There have also been donations of £150 made to Lions International Blood Research Appeal and £100 donations to Special Olympics, Kent Association for The Blind, Vitalise and Bromley Women's Aid.

With more members, the club could achieve even more.
