The manager of the newest cinema in Eltham has praised a great first weekend.

Vue opened in Eltham High Street on April 25 with hundreds of school children flocking through the doors to get the first glimpse.

To mark the opening, Greenwich council leader, Cllr Danny Thorpe unveiled Hollywood style bronze handprints that were kindly sponsored by Willmott Dixon, the main contractor.

Lian Bentley, General Manager of Vue Eltham, told News Shopper: “We’ve had a fantastic first weekend in Eltham, with Cllr Danny Thorpe, Leader of Greenwich Council attending on opening day.

"The hugely anticipated opening weekend of Avengers: Endgame meant there was a real buzz on site and we are looking forward to greeting more new customers from the Eltham area in the coming weeks.”

Vue will be open seven days a week and has six screens so you never miss out on seeing your favourite films and tickets will be just £6.99.

The new cinema is part of a Council's masterplan for the town centre, Eltham has benefited from a major £6.6m improvement scheme, primarily funded by Transport for London, which has made it more attractive for people walking and cycling.

Eltham is one of the three major town centres in the Royal Borough, along with Greenwich and Woolwich.

Historically important as the place where Henry VIII grew up, it is a thriving centre with a mix of national brands and independent shops.

Work is now underway on a Sky Café and a pizza restaurant, which will be opening in the coming months.
