A young boy is in a "critical condition" after being struck by a car in Orpington yesterday evening.
The child, 11, was hit by a car which initially failed to stop before halting a short distance away, according to the Met Police.
Officers were called to Court Road, near the Goddington Lane junction, at 6.50pm before making an arrest.
"The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and making off from the scene of an accident," a police spokesman said. "He remains in custody at a south London police station."
The boy's next of kin have been informed. He remains in an east London hospital in a critical condition.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD6316/13Apr.
