A selfless group of volunteers who help isolated and lonely people in Sidcup have been given a community service award.
Sidcup Rotary Club gave the award to The Day Centre for its commitment to the borough’s elderly population.
President of the Rotary Club, Gerry Packman, said: "It was a difficult choice to name our community heroes.
"There are so many hard-working volunteers enriching the lives of so many in the community and the Sidcup Day Centre volunteers were very worthy recipients of our award, well done to them all."
Mayor of Bexley Brian Bishop spoke at the Rotary Club Community Day lunch to thank all the borough’s volunteers.
The Day Centre, in Hadlow Road, has weekly gatherings where guests socialise with peers and get involved in crafts, bingo or songs.
It was founded by Bexley Council’s social services department and is operated by volunteers recruited from St John's Church, the Townswomen Guild, the Flower Arranging Club and the Red Cross.
